The Barrister Group exists to support self-employed barristers with the operational infrastructure of a modern legal organisation: clerking, compliance, billing, technology and business development. That model needs a board to match.
Our directors bring leadership experience from across the legal sector, from private equity-backed growth businesses, from legal technology, and from the senior ranks of the profession itself. Christina Blacklaws served as President of the Law Society. Stephen Ward co-founded the chambers from a clerking background. Emily Foges built and sold one of the UK's leading legal AI businesses. Investor directors sit alongside executives to provide commercial discipline.
That mix is deliberate. It allows TBG to set strategy with the long view, hold itself to the same standards as the firms it works with, and continue investing in the systems that make it a credible long-term partner for instructing solicitors and barristers alike.

Steven chairs the board and brings extensive experience of leading professional services and growth-stage businesses. He sets the governance agenda, working closely with the executive team on long-term strategy and ensuring TBG operates to the standards expected of a regulated chambers.
