He is a qualified lawyer (Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (Date of admission: 1989) Chartered Legal Executive lawyer with over 35 years experience in the legal profession, as a practitioner, lecturer and is a qualified Chartered Manager (Fellow) of the foremost management body in the UK, the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Karl recently retired as Head of Legal for a Gateway Housing Association. He holds a Doctorate in Education (Law & Administration) (USA) 2013 & Masters degrees including Business Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence) from the University of Middlesex UK (1994) and Senior Awards in management from the City & Guilds Institute of which he is also a Member of INADR (Chicago, Illinois, USA) Member of Business Mediators Group (BMG) (UK) .
He is a board member of the Regulatory Rules Committee of the Professional Paralegal Register, Advisor to the Board of a Mental Health Charity and Chair Emeritus of a borough wide Equalities organisation.

Karl is a contributing author to a leading RICS publication 'Diagnosing Dampness' and is co-author of dampness and the law. A contributor of Building Pathology.
Karl has successfully negotiated/ADR/settled over 300 Housing/L&T and other cases. He is a Mediation and negotiation judge for various universites in the UK and is an accredited member of the International Academy of Dispute Resolution. An approved Civil Mediation Council 'CMC Registered Mediator' CEDR -workplace Mediator, he is s a particiant Mediator in the Small Claim Court Free Mediation Project (FMP) Royal Courts of Justice / MoJ and contributes to the All Party Parliamentary Working Group on ADR.
Karl passionately believes that mediation is best in most disputes, often the least costly and most time effective approach and has developed his own style based on Fisher & Ury's 'removing the people from the problem' a new concept of MM (Mesites Mediation (TM) pending) which is based on the view that we should identify the cause or 'mischief' of a dispute and alienate it from the parties. His style is facilitative. He brings a broad range of experience to dispute resolution acquired from various disciplines, proven experience and problem solving.
As a Gateway our priority was to protect community assets....the statue is an important part of our local history and we wanted to retain it for the benefit of our community...Karl used his skills as a Civil Mediator to achieve a resolution that was good for all concerned
