Marianne Clark

South East

Marianne brings over 20 years of experience as a solicitor, including 10 years at a global law firm and 10 years in-house advising a national retailer. This breadth of work gives her a clear understanding of the commercial drivers and concerns on all sides of a transaction or dispute, and her negotiation skills have consistently helped clients achieve mutually satisfactory outcomes.

Having worked within a business environment, she has seen first-hand the significant time, cost, and energy that can be lost when conflict escalates. This insight fuels her commitment to mediation as a more constructive, efficient, and future-focused approach to resolving disputes.

Professional Background

For the first 10 years of her legal career, Marianne worked for global law firm K&L Gates in London in corporate real estate. She acted for lenders and borrowers, sellers and purchasers, landlords and tenants. This gave her a clear understanding of the commercial drivers on all sides of a property transaction. It also gave her the opportunity to hone my negotiation skills.

In 2015 Marianne took a job as in-house counsel at national retailer River Island. She is now Head of Legal at River Island and works 4 days a week which leaves her 1 day a week for mediation. Over the last 10 years she has developed an expertise in commercial leasing having managed the portfolio of over 200 stores in UK and Ireland. On a day-to-day basis Marianne also negotiates commercial contracts for the supply of goods and services as well as technology and data related agreements.
