Steven's practice focuses on international arbitration and complex cross-border matters, underpinned by extensive experience in serious and complex criminal litigation. He is an accredited mediator in the United Kingdom and Malaysia and a member of the Civil Mediation Council (UK).

Steven's experience in commercial fraud and international arbitration informs a disciplined and forensic approach to the assessment of evidence and risk. He is accustomed to disputes involving states, corporations, and sensitive issues such as regulatory exposure, sanctions, and reputational risk.

Steven's approach to mediation is grounded in fairness, careful listening, and disciplined analysis. Building on his considerable experience in high-stakes litigation and international arbitration, he brings a calm, measured, and analytical style to the process. He also draws on his experience in high-stakes litigation and advisory work involving fraud, dishonesty, regulatory exposure, and parallel proceedings across jurisdictions. This enables him to identify legal, commercial, and reputational risks at an early stage.

Steven combines legal rigour with commercial pragmatism, encouraging constructive engagement while maintaining momentum towards resolution. He assists parties in reality-testing their positions, addressing imbalances where they arise, and facilitating dialogue in disputes where relationships have broken down or where there are significant financial or reputational stakes. His focus is on assisting parties to reach outcomes that are both principled and practical.

Steven is a King’s Counsel with over 30 years of courtroom experience, practising from 2 King’s Bench Walk, London, and leading the Economic Crime Department at Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership, Malaysia.

His broad practice includes serious and complex crime, commercial fraud, international arbitration and Mediation. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and an accredited mediator in the UK and Malaysia. He is a Panel Arbitrator and Mediator at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (Malaysia) and am a Door Tenant at Blackrock Chambers (Dubai).

Steven holds a Diploma in Corporate Governance and a Professional Certificate in the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), equipping him with board-level insight into ESG compliance, transparency, and ethical leadership.
