Professional Background

Having left university with a first-class Honours degree, Jeremy spent 10 years as a Chartered Surveyor (he retains his RICS designation) before qualifying as a solicitor in 2000. He is a seasoned and accomplished litigation solicitor and a skilled and experienced mediator able to facilitate seamless resolutions for your disputes.

As a partner in a leading regional litigation practice with over 20 years' experience of dealing with complex disputes, he has an in-depth knowledge of both legal nuances and practical complexities of a range of disputes making him an invaluable asset in navigating through even the most intricate disagreements. He has represented parties (rather than as actual mediator) in over 30 mediations in his career and became a CEDR Accredited Mediator at the end of 2021.

With an earlier career as a surveyor, Jeremy has vast and unique experience of all real estate (property) and landlord and tenant disputes.  For over 20 years, he has been recognised in the Legal Directories for his expertise in property disputes. He has also written several articles for the RICS Journal and currently sits on the Lexis Nexis Steering Group for Residential Property.

Jeremy's other core area is in contested trust and probate actions, and he routinely advises clients and assists parties to mediate on claims arising out of wills or intestacy. That includes challenges to the capacity of the testator, undue influence having been exerted on the testator, claims for dependants under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act and all other contentious issues that may arise in that arena. He is also regularly instructed on Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act (TOLATA) claims.

In addition to those two core specialties, Jeremy's broader experience extends to advice on a diverse portfolio of other contentious matters.

Jeremy recognises that every dispute is unique. His extensive experience in litigation equips him with an adept understanding of the legal framework underpinning disputes, ensuring all mediation proceedings are conducted with meticulous attention to legal considerations. Jeremy is known for his neutrality and impartiality. He creates an environment where all parties feel heard and understood, fostering an atmosphere conducive to constructive dialogue and mutual resolution.

Mediation Style

He has exceptional communication skills facilitating effective discussions, enabling parties to articulate their perspectives and interests while working towards a mutually beneficial outcome.

When you choose Jeremy as your independent mediator, you are selecting a professional dedicated to guiding parties towards harmonious resolutions. Let Jeremy leverage his extensive legal background and mediation expertise to bring your dispute to a positive close.
