Prior to working as a mediator, Philip had a varied and successful career within the public and private sectors. In the public sector he audited and investigated corporate financial accounts, often then negotiating financial settlements to bring about the resolution of financial conflicts.

He brought insight and pragmatism to these roles with negotiation and mediation being a key part of his success. In the private sector Philip is a construction specialist, having been the commercial director of a property development company for 15 years. He has an informal and inclusive leadership style.
